Joel D. Thibodeaux, MD

Education & Medical Training
Dr. Joel Thibodeaux earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2000. After initially training in otolaryngology, he transitioned to pathology in 2004, completing his residency and a cytopathology fellowship at LSU Shreveport. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology.

Professional Experience
Dr. Thibodeaux spent nearly a decade on the faculty at UT Southwestern in Dallas, where he was promoted to Associate Professor and served as Medical Director of Cytology and Director of the Cytopathology Fellowship. He later entered private practice in southwest Louisiana as a general surgical pathologist and laboratory medical director. Dr. Thibodeaux joined Brown Pathology in 2021.
