About Us

Brown & Associates Medical Laboratories, or Brown Pathology as we are commonly known in the medical community, was founded by a group of Pathologists in 1951 in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Today Brown Pathology provides pathology services at diverse healthcare facilities in Houston, its surrounding areas and San Antonio. Brown Pathology’s clients include hospitals with over 200 beds, ambulatory surgery centers and national reference laboratories.

All of our Pathologists hold double board certifications in anatomic and clinical pathology. Adding to our in-house expertise, some of our pathologists are boarded in the sub-specialties of dermatopathology, cytopathology and hematopathology. As part of our commitment to provide the highest quality diagnostic medicine to our medical communities, Brown Pathology’s staff participates in a number of proficiency testing programs and serve as inspectors with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program.

Brown Pathology also provides high quality technical surgical processing of tissue at our CAP and CLIA certified laboratory located near the Texas Medical Center. In addition to routine histology, our laboratory also provides a wide array of special stains and over 90 immunohistochemistry stains. Our laboratory is equipped and staffed to service local histology, dermatology, and research laboratory clients with basic histology cutting, embedding, and frozen sectioning as well as any special stains or IHC needs. We are able to provide our clients with a local, expedited turnaround time compared to the larger, national reference labs.
